Kiara Renaud turned aside all 15 shots she faced, while captain Rorie Ringor netted the game-winner as the Rink Hockey Academy Female Varsity team defeated the Okanagan Hockey Academy 4-0 to capture its first Canadian Sport School Hockey League championship.

Not only did the female varsity squad win in their inaugural season, but the championship is also the first for the Rink Hockey Academy, based in Oak Bluff, Man.

“It’s the best feeling ever. Especially as a Grade 12, it’s my last high school game,” says Ringor, a Winnipeg, Man. product, who scored the first goal on the power play with 6:47 remaining in the opening period and added an assist. “It’s a feeling like I will never forget it. It’s the best feeling I've ever had. It’s awesome.”

Ringor said her late first period goal brought up the team’s energy. They went into the second period feeling strong, allowing them to add two more goals from Mia McKee at 11:49 and Danica Namaka with 8:16 remaining.

Rink added their fourth from Kenady Christiansen with 6:59 remaining in regulation on the power play.

Ringor says it was just “a strong game all-around.”
